Electronic laboratory notebook for Helmholtz HZI researchers
Welcome to the Labfolder user portal!
Labfolder is an electronic laboratory notebook that allows you to organize, record, and share data generated in the laboratory on a secure platform.
Since 2019, Labfolder has been used by a number of research groups at Helmholtz HZI centers. The rollout process began with selected groups in Braunschweig, Saarbrücken, and Würzburg. Ultimately, the software will be made available to all HZI research groups upon request.
Helmholtz HZI licenses Labfolder through a central contract, allowing researchers to focus on using the software without having to deal with contract and licensing costs.
Labfolder can be used via the central installation provided by Helmholtz HZI, where all data are stored locally and securely. To create a new account, you must be connected to the local Helmholtz HZI network.
Take advantage of Labfolder’s extensive features and optimize research documentation, collaboration, and compliance in the laboratory.
What are the benefits of an electronic laboratory notebook?
- Integrate all your data directly into your records
- Search and filter options to find specific data
- Customize entries via drag & drop of various elements
- More efficient collaboration with research partners
- Create protocols and SOPs for recurring workflows
- Set up inventory lists to organize laboratory materials
- Securely encrypted via SSL and regularly backed up

Your Labfolder Success Manager
Hello, my name is Katharina. As a LIV Success Manager, I support you in the optimal implementation of Labfolder by advising you in individual onboarding sessions and conducting training workshops with you.
Before joining Labforward, I worked in various biochemical and biotechnological laboratories. Having initially worked with traditional lab notebooks myself and only later adopted ELNs, I am convinced that ELNs are the future of modern laboratories, as they greatly facilitate daily work and collaboration.
